Review by ...

To sum it all up: This was the best show I've seen Dylan do since the Sexton/Campbell era.
I do find his current band to be a bit boring, delivering very little (well, George and
Tony does), but Dylan delivered so much tonight! There was never a moment when he
was on auto-pilot, and to repeat myself; the singing had come back to him. It was great
to see him leaving the keyboards on several occasions too. I left the show very happy.
jumped on my buss and was home by 22 hours...

On a side note, I must say that the song-selection was centered around seven albums
tonight:
Bob Dylan Greatest Hits vol. 2 - three songs
Bringing It All Back Home - one song
Blonde On Blonde - three songs
Highway 61 Revisited - three songs
Modern Times - four songs
Freewheelin' - two songs
John Wesley Harding - one song
NO songs between 1971 and 2006...!!

Review by Ole Bent Lysne

What a fucking brilliant concert!! Absolutely unbelievable!! First shock: Bob's playing electric guitar again! And giving us some really nice solos, too!
...
. What a show this turning out to be! "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall", wow, one of the best versions I've ever heard! (If this gets any better, I'll faint, for sure!!) "Rollin' And Tumblin'", what a great blues band! "Tangled Up In Blue", oh, my God! What a great arrangement! "Nettie Moore", another stunning number! "Summer Days", the band is swinging like crazy! After a grand and majestic version of LARS the band leaves. We're all on our feet yelling for more. "Thunder On The Mountain", another treat. Band introductions and then "All Along The Watchtower". George Receli is pounding his drums like crazy, driving the band like a mighty engine. They all gather at front of stage, Bob grins and raises his hands like a winning prize fighter. And, yes, he played some wonderful harp, too! One of Bob's best concert in Oslo ever (maybe even the best!) Me, I'm so happy I'm could cry! "We can have a whoppin' good time!" Yes, indeed! Thank God Bob is still blessing us with shows like this!! Ole Bernt Lysne

Review by Steinar Daler,Jörgen Lindström and Paul Wultz

Jörgen's opinion of "Positively 4th St." was that it was the first song of the evening
where his mind "drifted to far from show". Steinar however thinks it was the best
live version he has ever heard - "JUST BEAUTIFUL". Paul enjoyed the song
immensely too. The three of us agree that "Masters of War" was a powerful
performance of a song that is sadly still relevant to the world we live in.

Review by Steinar Daler

In Oslo we were given another brilliant performance. Lacking the grandeur of last evenings Desolation Row, it still gave us several precise renditions. The funny thing about attending identical concerts, one after the other (haven't happened since the Rolling Thunder Tours to my knowledge) is that you have to forget the disappointment of less surprise and you can start to concentrate on the details of the phrasing and timing much more. It has left a strong impression on me, of integrity and dedication in Bob's approach for the future, as a song and dance man. He is really swinging. He definitely knows a place where summer's still going on. Today It's alright Ma is as aggressive as Masters of War and Boots of Spanish Leather doesn't sound like a sad ballad, but turns out to be a nice little slow rocking-the-boat-hymn. He really knows how to make his music come alive again and again. I actually have no words to describe it. It lies in the in-betweens, in the eyes and ears of the beholder to experience.

Review by Ove Bordahl

Note. The reviews I saw (Dagbladet, VG, Puls) were enthusiastic, but Norwegian critics would do better if they translated some select American or Danish reviews into Norwegian (with the necessary changes), instead of writing their own. It is for instance not true that Dylan needed a long time to warm up - the journalist perhaps did. Judging from these reports a Dylan concert is like a rolling stones concert, where the journalist sleeps himself through the many real highlights until he wakes up at the sound of jumpin jack flash or similar, and then 'really enjoys it' while the stones are going through the motions before the highlight of the journalist's evening: the fireworks. Now, a Dylan-concert is nothing like that, and should't be in professional ears (Journalists are professional, it is their profession). It may be true that he sometimes has his ups and downs, from a musical point of view (forgetting about the microphone and things like that), in the course of a concert. But this concert was nothing like anything. It was fireworks all the way. An unbeatable event.

Review by Jonny Borgan

The songs after intermission was the exactly same list as in Gothenburg, but nevertheless a really strong encore-set, with an really great audience-singing-along at "Forever Young" - Bob was seemingly impressed by the massive help he got on the refrain, and he didn't try, for once, to make the sing-along impossible. A nice moment.
...
After the show, I got to talk to lots of people who saw Dylan for the first time, and the verdict was overwhelming pro-Bob - he's in a class of his own! And that's some of the greatness of this shows, both hard-core fans and new listeners will both find greatest hits and obscurities, blues and ballads, new and old stuff. Everybody loved the show, and I'm sure that Bob still will be having a soft spot for the norwegian audience!
