Review by Gibby Fairfield

When one is utterly alone, and not part of a group of friends - you become one with the crowd, and feed off that communal energy much more deeply. That's the best way to describe it... A packed house. Grammy displayed. Hot and humid as humanly possible. What a night. Absorbing this all in through half-teary eyes and goosebumped flesh... what else can so strongly move someone as music? That all-encompassing power that inspires such acts of greatness? Music is my religion... and I know alot of you ninjas out there know exactly what I mean. Some personal highlights for me were Chimes Of Freedom, I Believe In You & Just Like A Woman just for their relative rarity throughout the setlists. Wish we could have gotten a Love Minus Zero/No Limit like the folks did Tuesday night up in NY, but of course that was not to be. The vocals seemed to be turned up quite loud in the mix tonight, almost in a dominating way. It worked real nicely for Times/Changin' though, that's gotta be the best I've ever heard Bobby sing that. It must also be noted that he sang the same verse twice in a row during Mobile/Memphis... it seemed probably accidental - but who knows. And finally, congratulations to cool Security. In fact, no Security is a better way to put it. And that's the way it should be. Too many shows have dudes wanting to get in your pockets, or panicking over the sight of a cellphone, or freaking over strange aromas of natural herbs and such. Tonight was beautiful.

Review by David Moore
I'm not going to be critical tonight of anything, it was just too good of an overall experience to nitpick the setlist. 6 different pieces tonight compared to Columbus, including an awesome back-to-back run of "Blind Willie McTell" leading into "Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again". I found it curious that 15 songs were played in the main set instead of the standard 14... but no one is complaining! Costello wasn't on the ticket tonight, so maybe Bobby felt the need to give the crowd just a little extra? Also notable was the second encore of "Blowin' In The Wind", as we were all expecting "Watchtower" once again.

Review by Tim Lucas
Then came the evening's first "oh my God" moment with a sublime and heartfelt performance of "Blind Willie McTell," with Herron on banjo. After the show, I compared my memory of this performance to an earlier one from Melbourne last August, and -- again -- the difference I heard was the distinction between playing it (possibly even learning how to play it as a unit) and meaning it. Before the song was even over, I knew that this was the finest live musical performance I'd ever seen, of one of the most moving songs ever written. It was rewarded with one of the most enthusiastic ovations of the evening.

Review by Dave Edwards
Of the new songs, Summer Days was the highlight. It was almost like Sun Records reborn with Dylan playing Carl Perkins. Great rockabilly. On the Love and Theft album, Sugar Baby is one of the songs I like the least, but in concert it was great, much better than on the album. Final song before the break was Rainy Day Women and Bob introduced the band while they continued to play behind him, then they went back into the final chorus. I thought it was a much better way to introduce the band than between songs. After about five minutes the band was back on stage for pretty much the standard 5 song first encore, then came back again for All Along the Watchtower as the second encore. It was a great concert, I’m more and more impressed with this band. As a companion of mine said as we were leaving, if Dylan retires (God forbid), this band could tour on it’s own.

Review by Nathanael Hughes
Following review by my son Nathanael Hughes age 7. We drove up to visit an aunt in Cincinnati and see the July 11, 2000 Riverbend show. I had been promising to take him to a DYLAN show for a couple of years. We went to the BOB DYLAN concert & got there early. We got our tickets at the booth. We shopped around. My Dad bought me a BOB DYLAN fishing hat. I bought my Dad a BOB DYLAN mug. We found our seats on the 7th row. Then went to the concession stand bought 2 hotdogs, sat down and ate them. Then we went to our seats and watched BOB DYLAN. We had a great time! This was my 1st concert. My favorite songs were Like A Rolling Stone & Hard Rain. The 1st half of the concert I liked the acoustic songs more than the electric ones. My Dad asked me to grade the concert. I gave it an "F" for FANTASTIC!

Review by Joe Hollon
Desolation Row (acoustic) - I can't say enough how great Bob's vocals were especially on these first 5 songs. Bob seemed to be enjoying the small crowd and really using facial expressions a lot on the songs. "When you asked me how i was doing...(surprised look, one eyebrow up one down) was that some kinda joke?" Great version of a great song. To Ramona (acoustic) - this was a great surprise! I love this song. It sounded very different than any other version I've heard and took me awhile to recognize it.
